Breathing that holds up under pressure

Coaching and team sessions for athletes and coaches: breathing efficiency, recovery between efforts, and composure when it counts — in training and in competition.

Who this is for

The skill almost nobody trains

Athletes train strength, speed, and skill for years — and leave breathing on autopilot. Yet how you breathe shapes how hard efforts feel, how quickly you settle between them, and how composed you stay when the pressure spikes.

Breathing patterns are trainable, like anything else. Awareness first, then technique, then practice under realistic conditions — no overnight promises, just a measurable skill that supports the work you're already doing.

What athletes and teams work on

Breathing efficiency

Nasal breathing in training, breathing mechanics, and CO2 tolerance basics — building comfort with effort.

Pre-performance routines

Simple, repeatable ways to settle nerves and sharpen focus before competition or a big moment.

Recovery breathing

Techniques for settling faster between efforts, after sessions, and on rest days.

Composure under pressure

Practising regulation when it's hard — so the skill is there when it matters.

How it works

  1. Assess

Every athlete begins with a functional breathing assessment — patterns at rest and during effort, breathing cadence, carbon-dioxide tolerance — plus goals for the season: endurance, composure, recovery, or all three.

  2. Train

Techniques matched to the sport and the athlete, taught with feedback and adjusted as capacity builds.

  3. Apply

Routines built into warmups, training blocks, competition days, and recovery — so it becomes part of how you compete.

Why athletes work with Louise

Athletes work with Louise on outcomes: breathing efficiency that makes hard efforts feel more manageable, faster settling between efforts, and composure that holds when the pressure spikes — each one measured against their assessment baseline, not guessed at.

Behind that is her training: she is an Oxygen Advantage® Advanced Certified Instructor — the certification focused specifically on breathing for sport and performance — and came to this work partly through her own endurance training. She works with individual athletes, teams, clubs, and coaches, in person around Oakville, online, or travelling to your training environment.
